Asia Cup 2018: India vs. Pakistan, A1 vs. A2, Super Four, Match 3, Sep 23: Match Preview & Prediction

On 19th September, India and Pakistan played their group match of this Asia Cup edition. That was their first encounter after Champions Trophy Final. While the match had all the hype like previous all India Vs Pak encounters, it failed to be a cracker of the match in the end. Indian bowlers first restricted Pakistan to a paltry score and then won the match with the loss of only two wickets.

Now, they are ready to meet again within a week. This time it is the Super Four match. The stakes are higher but the energy is still the same as any India Pak match. Can Pakistan salvage their image? Can they outperform India? Or Will India continue to dominate Pakistan with its Bowling and Batting?

India has done well under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and they have not missed Virat Kohli till now. While they will be hoping that this spell continues, Pakistan, on the other hand, would be figuring a way to answer Indian bowling unit. While they prepared for two spinners last time, it was Kedar Jadhav who surprised them. Who will be Indian Trump card this time? India looks very solid as a batting and bowling unit. They have a solid opening pair of Captain Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan.

Rayadu at no. 3 is in good shape. Then in the middle order, Karthik, Dhoni, and Jadhav can perform. Though, this is also India’s weak link. There is doubt about Pandya’s injury. And if he is fit, he can be a handy all-rounder at no.7. Bowling unit of India is quite confident after entry of Kumar, Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav.

On the other hand, Pakistan has a good bowling unit but a very shaky batting lineup. Their openers have not yet performed. The middle order is not set. Babbar Azam is the sole comforting name there. Shoaib Malik is aging each day. The lower middle order consists of not so consistent all-rounders. The weakness of their batting order was evident last time too. After the resistance of Malik and Babbar, they just faltered like cards.

Pakistan has always been an unpredictable team and India Pak matches are very hard to predict. However given the performances of both of these teams and their form, it will still be slightly higher chance for India to be on the winning side.
