Chennai Super Kings rose to the top of the table after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by just 4 runs. After winning the toss, Kane Williamson, the captain of Hyderabad chose to field, a well-thought decision as Chennai struggled to put runs on the board in the first ten over. The opening pair of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis scored just 9 and 11 runs respectively. However, contributions of Ambati Rayudu of 79 of 37 and Suresh Raina’s 54 took the total to 182. It seemed Hyderabad would have no difficulty in scoring, but they probably did not anticipate was Deepak Chahar. The bowler from Chennai got opener Ricky Bhui for a duck and Manish Pandey too who came in at number 3.
Rashid Khan and Yusuf Pathan put in a gallant display in the end but sadly were unable to score the six runs which were needed of the last ball. Man of the Match was awarded to Ambati Rayudu for his knock which had 9 boundaries and 4 sixes. Will Chennai be able to maintain this lead would be worth looking out for in the coming matches.
