The Indian cricket team is in England to face the England team in the second chapter of the ODI series that will start in Trent Bridge on Thursday, July 12. India had won the T20I series by 2-1 against the English team in January 2017. After a consolidating victory, India will now face England in a three-match ODI series.
India is packed with tremendous talent. It has players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who are individually enough to give a lead to the match. With Rohit alongside KL Rahul, who hit a century in the most recent T20 international, and Hardik Pandya’s all-around performance and skills will give India an additional advantage against the England team. With the ball, Kuldeep and Yuzvendra will be key, who performed well in their previous match. On the other hand, in England team, with batsman like Alex Hales, who hit the headlines with his 147 in the record-breaking innings in Trent Bridge, the English side has a great chance to score. England’s batting depth extends to Jos Buttler, who scored a match-winning 110* in a recent match against Australia. The team also has excellent bowlers like leg-spinner Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali, who will be a major threat for the visitors.
If we compare both the teams, England is a top-tier team in ODI, who whitewashed Australia in an ODI series. The England team is therefore more in form. However, we cannot also underestimate India as it ranks 2nd in ICC ODI Ranking. India is still a tough team to compete against the world-top ODI team. Furthermore, the team also won the T20 series. However, ODI is the main strength of England, who will not let any team defeat them at their own game. We can expect a tough match as the two teams stand toe to toe in power and skills.
