Sri Lanka Tour of India 2017 began on 11th of November and this tour has three test matches, three ODIs and three T20Is. Last time when both these teams met on the field, Lankans survived manic final session to eke out a dramatic draw. The Sri Lankan side desperately needs to win matches to maintain their elite team status.
The second test match will be held from 24th November 2017 at VCA Stadium in Nagpur. There have been 4 international test matches on this ground. The average score for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings are 380, 370, 285 and 209 respectively. The highest total was recorded by the home team against New Zealand (566/8 – 165Ov) and the lowest was recorded by NZ against India (175/10 – 51.2Ov). Players to Watch and Match Prediction
Cricket matches, especially tests, require exceptional level of skill and stamina. Both these teams are a good mixture of young and experienced. This brings both skill and stamina into the game.
Indian fast bowlers are exceptionally well in taking wickets even when they go for runs. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav would most probably be in the playing eleven and as the wicket is good for pacers, they would definitely serve great value for the Indian team. The class of captain Virat is unmatchable and with the cool and calm composure of Ajinkya, India is all set to post some big totals here again.
Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan Dickwella are Sri Lanka’s main go-to batsmen. They have to play well if Sri Lanka wants to win; otherwise it would be difficult. Youngster Vishwa Fernando and experienced Angelo Mathews are key players serving Sri Lanka’s bowling attack. Angelo Mathews has troubled Indian batsmen in the last series, so he needs to do something similar again.
If everything goes well for the men in blue like last time, Sri Lanka has absolutely no chance of beating the best test team in the world. Sri Lanka needs to think different and try some variations in their bowling attack. The batsmen need a good opening partnership to boost their confidence and not give wickets cheaply. A strong foundation could help Sri Lanka beat India, but the home team is still the favorite for the 2nd Test match between these countries.
