Punjab continued their fine form as they edged out Delhi for a mere 4 runs. After winning the toss, Delhi had decided to field. They put on a good bowling display as they restricted Punjab to 143 at a loss of 8 wickets. Liam Plunkett made full use of his spell of 4 overs as he posted an impressive bowling figure of 3/17. Other major contributors were Trent Boult and Avesh Khan, both of whom took 2 wickets each.
Delhi lost their first three wickets cheaply as they together put up just 38 runs. Gautam Gambhir’s poor form continued as he scored just 4 runs. The rest of the team seemed to crumble under pressure. The only noteworthy performance came in from Shreyas Iyer who scored 57 off 45 balls. Rahul Tewatia came in at number 7 and chipped in 24 runs. When they were almost on the verge of winning Iyer was dismissed by Ashwin after which they could not chase the modest target of 144.
