The Feroz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi will witness the first match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals (previously Delhi Daredevils) on the 30th of March. Being the third match for both the teams this season, they will be prepared to give an action-packed performance on the pitch.
|Match||Delhi Capitals vs. Kolkata Knight Riders|
|Venue||Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi|
|Series||Indian Premier League|
|Match days||30 March 2019 – night match (20-over match)|
Looking at the history of the two teams, KKR has had a stronger squad that has led them to win the tournament twice. Delhi has never won the league and was only placed third two times in the past. Considering their head-to-head performances, DC has managed to beat KKR only 9 times out of the 23 times that they have played against each other and only thrice in the proposed venue.
Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals captained by Dinesh Karthik and Shikhar Dhawan will try to outdo each other in the tournament. Looking at the previous records, KKR are likely to be the crowd-favourite in spite of DC paying on their home ground.
The teams have seen some major changes this year. Kolkata Knight Riders have retained 13 players from the team of 2018 and have added 8 new members. On the other hand, the Delhi Capitals have 15 members from last year’s team and recruited 10 new players for this season. Both the teams have loosened their budgets to bring in some high-performing fresh talent into their respective teams. How this will impact their game can be seen only after the tournament starts.
Kolkata, a two-time champion, has not even been able to cross the third spot in the last two seasons. This is their chance for redemption and they will put in their all to win. Delhi would also be giving it their all, hoping that they would be able give a better performance than their previous ones. With the fresh faces in both the teams, the clash would be worth the wait.
