IPL Auction 2018: Here’s Rajasthan Royals Player List

The two-year ban is over for the Rajasthan Royals and now they are geared to participate in 2018 IPL with a nearly brand new team. The team took part in both days of the IPL auction and made some smart bids to get a complete team that has the potential to win the 11th edition of the IPL.

Players Retained

Rajasthan Royals retain just one player from their erstwhile team and that player is Steve Smith, the Australian captain. He will also be captaining the team this season. Smith is renowned for scoring quick runs in the limited version games and will be an asset to the team. He is also a good leader as he has the experience of leading the Australian side.

Under his captaincy, Australia recently won the Ashes against England. It will not be wrong to say that Smith knows what he wants his players to do on the field, be it with the bat or the ball. So, the Royals have made a wise choice.

Other Players

The Royals purchased 22 new players during the auction. The managed to get Ben Stokes for a whopping INR12.5 crore, and as a result, Stokes became the most expensive player during the auction.

The team also managed to get Stuart Binny and Jos Buttler. Along with Ben Stokes, the Royals have a strong middle order that can score a lot of runs during the death overs. Buttler will be keeping the wickets while Binny and Stokes will be expected to contribute with their bowling.
