The South Africans are being led by JP Duminy as the regular captain Faf du Plessis is ruled out the T20I series due to an injury. Even other key players are being rested as South Africans are slated to play the Australians as soon as this series gets over. However, the T20I series is an opportunity for newcomers like Junior Dala and Christiaan Jonker to prove themselves and gain a permanent place in the Proteas T20 squad.
AB de Villiers will be looking to perform well with the bat in the second T20I, as he has hardly got any playtime, thanks to his spate of recent injuries. Heinrich Klaasen will be the other batsman to watch out for, as he can score quick runs under pressure.
South African bowling is good, but the bowlers have not troubled the Indian squad. In this shortened version, things could work out differently, especially if the likes of Morne Morkel, Tabraiz Shamsi and Aaron Phangiso, can take quick wickets to prevent Indians from scoring at will.
Virat Kohli, vice captain Rohit Sharma, and Shikhar Dhawan are the key Indian batters that the South Africans will be looking to dismiss early and quickly.
Prediction for 2nd T20I between South Africa and India
India plays the shortened version well, especially since they have Jaydev Unadkat. He plays the T20 version very well and is capable of scoring quickly with the bat. Also, Shikhar Dhawan and MS Dhoni can score quickly. The Men in Blue have not been troubled in the ODIs by the South African bowlers. However, it could be different in the T20 format. Chahal, Yadav and Bhuveshwar Kumar will continue to trouble the South African batsmen and this will ensure quick and regular wickets.
However, the chances are high that the 2nd T20I will be won by the South Africans. The Proteas will want to prevent a complete whitewash by the Men in Blue. Also, the uncapped and new players will strive hard to prove themselves so that they make it to the squad for the upcoming series with Australia, and this is where the Proteas will have an edge over the Indians.
Predicted Winner: Team India (IN)
