India thrashed Sri Lanka in their tour of Sri Lanka that ended in September by winning all the matches. Sri Lanka is coming to India on a tour that comprises of three tests, three ODIs and three T20Is. So far, Sri Lanka is having a difficult 2017. They lost all ODIs and T20Is against Pakistan in their recent tour to UAE after registering a series win in the Test series against them. The Indian team, on the other hand, is having a marvellous 2017. It is the no. 1 Test and ODI team and is on the verge of becoming the no. 1 T20 team as well.

As the captain of India, Virat Kohli is looking to make a core team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, the team for this Sri Lankan tour is expected to have a few youngsters. Here are 5 Indian Players that we expect to be in the ODI squad of the men in blue:

  1. Shreyas Iyer:

Shreyas Iyer is an attacking top order batsman who has showed that he can bat beautifully. He had a strike rate of 128.5 in IPL till now and has been a crucial part of Delhi Daredevils’ batting line-up. He is one of the most watchable batsmen in India after the skipper Virat Kohli. He should definitely get a chance to debut in these ODIs.

  1. Jaydev Unadkat:

He didn’t do well in his test debut against South Africa, but he had a few decent performances when he returned to the One Day side in 2013. In last IPL 2017, he had an excellent season. He was a crucial death bowler for Rising Pune Supergiants and it is possible that he gets a chance to play in these ODIs.

  1. Rishabh Pant:

Rishabh Pant has already earned the name of being the former skipper, MS Dhoni’s successor. He is the wicket-keeper batsman for Delhi Daredevils and this youngster has shown classic batting countless times for the team. If he gets a chance in this ODI, he might get to learn a lot from Dhoni and might even succeed him when he retires.

  1. KL Rahul:

KL Rahul is an excellent batsman in the top order. He has played for the country in the past and never disappointed the country. He plays good cricket and can bat for long overs easily. He has done wonders for RCB in IPL and is comfortable playing with skipper Virat Kohli.

  1. Kuldeep Yadav:

Kuldeep Yadav has troubled the Sri Lankan batsmen in India tour of Sri Lanka 2017, so he would definitely get to play in this ODI as well. He is another young man with a brilliant ODI record. He has played 12 ODIs with an economy of 4.95 and 19 wickets in total. As Virat is eyeing for the World Cup, Kuldeep should be in the ODI squad.

All these young players have a chance to be in the ODI squad and the selectors would definitely consider them as their track record demands it.
