New Zealand Tour of India 2017 has begun and it is as exciting as advertised. Both the teams have excellent batsmen who know how to play against all sorts of bowling attacks, but the bowlers need to be praised for the way they have got the better of the in-form batsmen. Here are the top 5 bowlers from each team as per the recent stats and previous records:
New Zealand Cricket Team
The black caps, as their Australian neighbours, are known for their pacers. New Zealand does have spin bowlers that are known to trouble batsmen from time to time, but the pacers have a whole another level. Here are the top five bowlers from New Zealand cricket team:
Mitchell Santner: Mitchell Santner is currently the only spin bowler in New Zealand’s playing 11 that have known to trouble the Indian batting line-up. He took important wickets and maintained an economy rate less than 4.10 in both ODIs.
Tim Southee: This 28-year old right arm fast medium pacer is a little expensive run wise, but he gets crucial wickets like the skipper Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Trent Boult: We have all seen this left handed swing bowler in action and he played his part in this series as well with four crucial wickets (Rohit, Shikhar, Dhoni and Pandya) in the first ODI. The men in blue tackled him in the second ODI, but he still managed to maintain an economy rate of less than 6.
Adam Milne: He is a young and promising right arm fast bowler who troubled the Indian batsmen in the second ODI. He took a wicket and kept the economy rate less than 3.
Ish Sodhi: He is a right arm leg break bowler who should be given a chance at slower pitches as his stats show that he could trouble Indian batsmen a lot.
Indian Cricket Team
The men in blue are known for their power in spin, but lately this has changed. The Indian seamers have grown tremendously and become a force to recon with. Here are the top 5 Indian bowlers in this series:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: This young bowler has grown tremendously and has become the world’s best bowler. He has unlimited variations and is a really smart death bowler who troubles the opposition no matter who he is playing against.
Jasprit Bumrah: Another young Indian star who complements Bhuvi perfectly and this duo of pacers have made Indian bowling stronger than ever. Those days are long gone when India depended upon their batting as these two have shifted the focus completely.
Hardik Pandya: He is the all-rounder that India has groomed perfectly. A completely reliable player with the bowl as well as the bat!
Yuzvendra Chahal: New Zealand players have a tough time playing spin bowling and Chahal has taken complete advantage of that.
Axar Patel: Another great spin attack that the Indians have! He came in handy in the second ODI against New Zealand. He also comes in handy with the bat.
Bowlers make or break the match. They can give runs or take wickets. Therefore, having such a bowling attack is noteworthy for both the teams.
